South O’Brien recorded a second-place finish at the 2021 Stephanie Streit Memorial Track Meet held April 22 at Hawarden. The Wolverines scored 107.44 team points. West Lyon won the meet with a 134.88 total. Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley was seven points behind South O’Brien in third.
The Wolverines won three individual events and tied for first in another. Sophia Faust captured the 800 meter run in a time of 2:41.25. Willa Sickelka’s 27.08 clocking was the fastest one in the 200 meter dash field. Karlee Warnke leaped 15’ 1” to win the long jump. The group that tied for first place in the high jump included Alyssa Van Beek.
A pair of sprint relays came up winners for the Wolverines. Annika Jenness and Hannah Dau teamed up with Warnke and Sickelka to capture the 4×100 in 52.17 and 4×200 in 1:51.97.
Jenness placed second in the 100 meter dash as did Takara Conley in the 1500 meter run. A runner-up finish was also turned in by the sprint medley relay unit of Jenness, Maddy Jungers, Warnke and Sickelka.
A trio of relays came in third. They included the distance medley of Abby Schreck, Dau, Faust and Taja Conley, the 4×800 of Taja Conley, Takara Conley, Grace Fuhrman and Faust and the 4×400 of Taja Conley, Takara Conley, Kenna Bauer and Faust.
