Wolverine boys top Sioux Central Golfers
The South O’Brien Boys Golf Team carded another impressive team score when they faced Sioux Central in a non-conference dual Tuesday, April 25 at Primghar. The Wolverines won the dual 172-206 and took the top three medals. The gold went to David Bottjen with a 39, another personal best for the junior. “It was great to see David break into the 30s tonight,” said South O’Brien coach Kris Faust. “He is focused and playing relaxed.” The runner-up medal went to sophomore Derek Paulsen who posted a 42. “Derek continues to prove himself and handles the pressure really well,” said Faust. Senior Dylan Strubbe carded a 44 for 3rd place for the Wolverines. Sioux Central’s Boden Bright slipped in to grab the 4th place medal with a 45.
Three other Wolverines tied at 47. Senior Keaton Sampson and sophomores Carter Halverson and Ryan Fuller tied for 5th place, sealing the victory for the Wolverines. Faust commented, “The boys have improved their team score by 25 strokes this season and they continue to move in the right direction. It’s a great place to be as we head into the conference meet.”
