O’Brien County VA “Giving Back” Drive
Katie Ginger, O’Brien County Veterans Affairs Administrator, announced the second year of a donation and give back driver. Ginger stated, “The first year was a great success with 100% of the proceeds going back to O’Brien County Veterans.”
Ginger took time to highlight events made possible from the 2022 donation drive.
•Each veteran with an address on file in O’Brien County or who stopped into the office was gifted a birthday card. Just over 190 veterans were remembered on their birthday.
•Four (4) O’Brien County Veterans were sponsored on Honor Flights to Washington, D.C.
•Ten camaraderie events or coffees were held throughout O’Brien County communities.
•A veterans’ pantry now exists for veterans in need.
•Veterans’ Day gifts were given to every veteran in an O’Brien County nursing home
•Adopt-A-Veteran for veterans at care facilities throughout O’Brien County during the holiday season is in place.
•Multiple outreach events to honor veterans were hosted during the past year.
The success of these programs during their first year shows a need in our communities. Supporting the continued effort of support for veterans demonstrates gratitude for their service.
“I ask that you consider a monetary donation or contribution to show your support for those that have served,” said Ginger. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 97, Primghar, Iowa 51245.
