Heather (Horstmann) Einck earns Chiropractic Degree – Heather Einck, daughter of Mark and JoAnn Horstmann of Sutherland, received her doctor of chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University at commencement exercises held in November. Dr. Einck was one of 88 graduates who tool part in Northwestern’s 102n d Commencement Convocation. Graduates hailed from three countries, 14 states, and four Canadian provinces. Dr. Einck received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. She completed a preceptorship with Darin Stokke, DC, in Montevideo, Minnesota. Dr Einck is married to Tony Einck.
OPEN GYM AT SOHS HS – There will be Open Gym at the South O’Brien High School gymnasium from 1.00 p.m. – 4.00 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday through February Children in fourth grade and under must be accompanied by an adult.
OPEN WEDDING DANCE – An open wedding dance will be held Saturday, February 2, 2002, at the Paullina Legion from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the honor of the marriage of Tonya Wohlert and Aaron Oolman.
COMMUNITY BABY SHOWER FOR RACHEL SOHN – Friends and family arc invited to a conic and go Community Baby Shower for Rachel Sohn, daughter of Todd and Tammy Sohn, on January 26 at the United Methodist Church from 2 00 to 4:00 p.m.

Roberts is branch manager at Peterson – Carolyn Roberts, Sutherland, has been hired as Branch Manager of the Farmers Cooperative Association. The Association has branches at Marathon, Laurens, Linn Grove, Peterson, Sioux Rapids and Webb. Roberts will be manager at the Peterson facility. She also is serving her second term on the Iowa Grain Sellers & Depositors Indemnity Board. Roberts recently resigned her position at the Sutherland Farmers Coop Elevator after having served 7 years as manager.
Wolverines lose to Blackhawks – Aaron Black shoots The Hinton Blackhawks travelled to Paullina Friday night, January 10 to face the South O’Brien Wolverines in War Eagle Conference basketball action. Unfortunately, this game was another defeat for the Wolverines, 63- 52. “This was a game we should have won.. . .we just didn’t respond,” said a disappointed head coach Dave Schroeder. The Wolverines only trailed by three (13-10) at the first quarter break and by eight (26-18) when both teams went to the lockerrooms. Hinton outscored the hosts 18 to 15 in the third eight minutes to open up a 44-33 edge and went on to claim the victory by the same eleven point margin 63-52.
Girls lose heartbreaker in OT at The South O’Brien – girls basketball team lost a nail biter in OT on Friday, January 10 in Paullina. Both teams played virtually on even terms the entire contest. South O’Brien started off very strong, leading by as much as six points in the first half. The visiting Hinton Lady Blackhawks had to play catch-up ball most of that first half finally knotting the score at 34 the intermission.

Lynn Giese on Honor List – The Dean’s Honor List at Augustana College, Sioux Falls, shows a total of 429 fulltime students earning the academic distinction by averaging 3.3 (B plus) or better for their semester’s work. Lynne Giese of Sutherland was named to the Dean’s Honor List.
