Frequently Asked Questions on the Bond Issue
Q: What construction projects will the bond issue fund?
A: Projects funded by the bond referendum will incorporate work at both the JH/HS and Elementary School buildings. At the JH/HS, the original building (NE Corner) will be demolished to make way for new construction including a science wing and elevator addition. Other new work on the building and site will include an agricultural wing and greenhouse, an industrial arts wing, an auxiliary gym with two full-size basketball courts and seating, a community fitness center, a new administrative office suite, renovations to the existing weight room/locker rooms, parking/paving improvements and relocation of the JH practice field. Across the street, the old Industrial Arts Building (North Campus) will be renovated for District Administrative offices and the Alternative School program. At the Elementary School, the gymnasium will receive significant upgrades to allow for the District’s performing arts programs. Upgrades include accessible seating, stage curtains, rigging and lighting, sound booth/equipment, acoustic panels, and storage spaces.
Q: I don’t have any students in school, why should I support this referendum?
A: Everyone at some point in time has helped support a school that they themselves did not have childing attending. It is likely that someone supported you when you were in school that had no children of their own attending at that time. This concept is fundamental to democracy. Small communities need strong schools, and strong schools help maintain strong property values. Making an investment in schools now will pay huge dividends in the future. Not supporting or waiting only means additional costs and higher taxes down the road.
