Wolverines absorb road loss to Akron-Westfield
South O’Brien traveled to Akron September 22 for a War Eagle Conference meeting with Akron-Westfield. The sets were close but the Westerners won them all to gain the 3-0 victory. The scores were 25-19, 25-17 and 25-22. The loss dropped the Wolverines to 1-5 in conference play.
Maddie Johnson produced seven kills in 12 attempts with just one error for a kill efficiency of .500. Marissa Ebel added six kills and Karlee Warnke and Brooklyn Edwards five each. Whitney Einck contributed 21 set assists. Johnson made three solo blocks and assisted on another. Digs leaders were Ebel with 16, Edwards with 11 and Jinger Nieuwenhuis with 10. Payton Farquhar was successful on all nine of her serves, which included one ace.
