Wolverine boys finish sixth at War Eagle Conference Tourney
The War Eagle Conference Boys Tournament was conducted May 9 at The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center. Akron-Westfield was the team champion after shooting a combined 351.
It has been a crazy spring for weather this golf season and while we had by far the best temperature of the season, we still played in 25-30mph wind. While it wasn’t ideal, it was still one of the best days of golf that we’ve had all season. The wind is no excuse – everyone was playing in the same conditions.
We finished 6th after shooting a team score of 385. Freshman Derek Paulsen led the way for us with a 90, which was good enough for a 13th place finish. Senior, Kaedon Louscher finished 14th after shooting a 91 and sophomore David Bottjen finished 23rd with a 95. This was the first time three of our guys ever played 18 holes. I thought overall, we played well and this was a very valuable experience for our guys considering our 18-hole Sectional tournament is coming up. We were selected to host sectionals this year and I know the guys are as excited as I am for it.
