St. John’s To Give Operetta May 9th – St. John Lutheran School, Germantown will present the operetta “Here Comes The Circus Parade” on Tuesday, May 9 at 8:00 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Miss Linda Hauschild and Mr. Brandt, teachers at St. John, are” the directors, Mrs. Elwood Schulz is the piano accompanist. The public is invited to the operetta.
Sixty Motorcyclists Gathered Near Paullina – O’Brien County Sheriff George Sleeper and his deputies spent an anxious weekend patrolling the south half of O’Brien County. A meeting of over 60 motorcyclists had gathered at the Ole Liberty Body Shop east of Paullina. The group represented bikers from as far away as Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha and Missouri. Sheriff Sleeper related that they were a tough looking group and consumed lots of liquor.
BURLEIGH JURGENSEN, ELECTED PRESIDENT OF PAULLINA JAYCEES FOR THE COMING YEAR – Monday night the Jaycees met’ at Lange’s Cafe Annex with a dinner meeting. The main item of business was the election for the coming year. As of July 1 the new president will be Burleigh Jurgensen. He succeeds Gordon Bruns who has been president this year.

John Hibbing Has Book Published – John R Hibbing, formerly of Paullina, has written a book, “Choosing to Leave Voluntary Retirement from the U S House of Representatives” to be published in September 1982.
Good Neighbor Deed at Charlie Bjork Farm – Neighbors and friends of Mr and Mrs Charlie Bjork gathered at the Bjork farm on Wednesday and Thursday and plowe’d and did the discing on 100 acres. Weber Koester, Rodney Carlson. Marvin Ftntel, Steve Wallin, LeDen Pingel, Clarence Rabe, Dudley Hinz Mike Rabe. and Eldon Miller plowed the 100 acres on Wednesday On Thursday. David Fintel, Wilbert Fintel. Vernon Fintel, and Paul Hibbing with 2 rigs from his I H dealership disced the field. Mrs Alice Fintel and Mrs. Peg Koester brought bars and helped with the lunch. Charles Bjork entered the Sheldon hospital on April 30.
Kim Stamer is Truckers Queen Candidate – Kim Stamer of Granville has been selected as a candidate for Farm-to-Market Truckers Queen. The competition will be in conjunction with the annual Farm-to-Markct Truckers’ Day on May 7 at the Marina Inn, South Sioux City, Nebr.

Fr. Pick assigned new pastorate – Father Anthony Pick, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Primghar, has been given a new pastorate by Bishop Soens effective July 1. Fr. Pick will be the pastor at St. Louis Church in Royal with a mission at St. Mary’s in Everly. The name of Fr. Pick’s successor at Sacred Heart and St. Anthony’s has not been released.
Jack Mau recognized for service to NITC – Jack Mau, Paullina,was recognized for his service to Northwest Iowa Technical College at an advisory committee meeting held on campus on Thursday, April 23, 1992. The award, which was presented by David Lagoo, Mechanics Division Manager at NITC, recognized Mau for his dedicated service to the college and in particular the Mechanics Division and Heavy Equipment program. Mau, an NITC graduate, served many years on the General College Advisory Council. He was instrumental in the success of a three-year Heavy Equipment project at Mill Creek State Park which marked the beginning of other joint projects between the O’Brien County Conservation Commission and the Heavy Equipment program at NITC.
Mau will retire from the position of Executive Director of the O’Brien County Conservation Commission this year.
DEVELOPMENT TO MEET: Paullina Development, Inc., will hold its annual meeting on Monday, May 11, 1992. at 7 30 p.m. at the law office. Everyone interested in the quality of life in Paullina is invited to attend.
