The South O’Brien track and field girls finished second to host Ridge View at the Russ Kraai Relays held April 11 at Holstein. The Wolverines’ 105 points allowed them to come in just ahead of the 102 scored by Sioux Central. The Raptors’ winning total was 123.
Willa Sickelka accomplished the sprint trifecta, winning the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes. She also anchored the 4×100 to victory. Joining her on that relay were Abby Schreck, Kenna Bauer and Karlee Warnke.
Two other relays crossed the finish line first. Those winning units were the sprint medley relay of Maddy Friedrichsen, Schreck, Warnke and Taja Conley and the distance medley relay of Bauer, Warnke, Taja Conley and Takara Conley.
Runner-up finishes were turned in by Elodie Wilson in the 800 meter run, Warnke in the long jump and the shuttle hurdle relay of Schreck, Riley Draper, Marissa Ebel and Bauer. Placing third were Jadyn Renken, Alyssa VanBeek, Averie Logan and Jalyssa Joines in the 4×200.
A pair of hurdle events resulted in a pair of fourths courtesy of Schreck in the 100 and Taja Conley in the 400. Taja Conley was also a part of the fourth-place 4×400 relay which also featured Regan Draper, Takara Conley and Bauer.
