Janice Kay Gunnerson

Janice Kay Gunnerson

Janice Kay Gunnerson, the daughter of Herbert and Fern (Hendricks) Miller, was born on November 28, 1940, in Cherokee, IA. She was raised and received her early education in Sutherland, from Sutherland High School. Following high school, she worked at Security State Bank.
On July 8, 1962, Janice married Darwin Gunnerson at the United Methodist Church. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed in Sutherland. She helped Darwin on the farm and raised her family. She also worked at various places throughout her life.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and served on several boards. She was also on the Ladies Aide and helped with numerous church functions. Janice enjoyed having coffee with the ladies and was known for her M&M cookies, apple bars and zucchini bread. She always had a clean house and was known for showing up early to functions. The most important thing to Janice was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was always there to support them at their events.
Janice passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at MercyOne Siouxland in Sioux City, IA, at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darwin in 2010; her granddaughter, Kayla Selk and her brother-in-law, John Leonard.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kim Berry (Steve) of Laurens, IA, Londa Witte (Gary) of Albert City, IA and Brian (Michelle Freeman); her grandchildren: Adam, Todd (Crystal), Matt (Kyndal), Eric (Alyssa), Jason (Ashley), Luke (Shelbee), Wyatt, Ashlynn, Caleb and Jesse; 7 great grandchildren; her brother, Jerry Miller (Linda) of Okoboji, IA; two sisters: Linda Leonard of Sutherland, IA and Faye Ehmcke (Paul) of Ames, IA; two brothers-in-law, Terry (Sandi) Gunnerson and Dave (Karen) Gunnerson both of Peterson, IA; other relatives and friends.
Services were at 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 11, 2022
United Methodist Church
Sutherland, Iowa with Pastor David Morris officiating. Interment was at Waterman Cemetery.
