Boyden-Hull pulls away in second half to down Wolverine boys
Boyden-Hull put together a strong second half to outdistance South O’Brien 78-44 January 22 at Hull. The Wolverines trailed 32-26 at halftime but were outscored 46-18 in the second half by the seventh-ranked team in Class 2A. South O’Brien’s record dropped to 9-5 while the Comets improved to 12-1.
The Wolverines were 16-of-45 from the field for 36 percent. They made three of their 12 three-point tries and were 9-of-14 at the free throw line. South O’Brien committed just two turnovers. Among the Comets’ 29 field goals were 14 from three-point range. They were 6-of-8 at the charity stripe.
Hudson Oolman scored 12 points, Jacob Van Lith 10, Jake Wallin seven, Sawyer Honkomp and David Bottjen five each, Derek Paulsen three and Ben Woodall two. The Wolverines got three assists from Wallin and two each from Oolman, Van Lith and Honkomp.
Oolman was the top rebounder with seven, followed by Wallin with five and Van Lith with four. Wallin made two steals. Recording one steal apiece were Van Lith, Honkomp, Paulsen, Justice Frerk and Dylan Strubbe.
