Judith Ann Gross

Judith Ann Gross, 71, of Sutherland, Iowa, formerly of rural Meriden and Cherokee, Iowa passed away at her residence on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Larry Ostercamp will officiate. Burial will be in the Afton Township Cemetery at rural Cherokee, Iowa following the service. Visitation with the family present will be on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com The memorial service will be live streamed on the Boothby Funeral Home website with the assistance of Fuller Digital Solutions.
Judith was born on March 20, 1950 to Dale and Helen (Blankenfeld) Mansfield at Cherokee, Iowa. She attended Willow and Marcus Schools, graduating in 1969. She later attended Western Iowa Tech earning a degree in Graphics. She married Ralph Sutton on July 3, 1969. She later married Edward Gross on March 30, 1996.
She worked as a writer for the Cherokee Daily Times, a certified nursing assistant at BV Manor in Storm Lake, and as a certified nursing assistant and Activity Assistant at Country Side Estates in Cherokee, Iowa.
She was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Judy was welcoming to anyone who was around her. She took pride in her creative side designing wreaths and decorating the nursing home to put smiles on the residentÕs faces. She had a passion for music and loved to sing in church and most of all she loved her Lord and her family. We will celebrate her life and she will be truly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Gross, brothers Keith Mansfield, Jim Mansfield, sisters Jean Ireland, Virginia Gagnon, Gail Reinert, and Linda Flewelling.
Left to remember Judy are her children Dawn Greene (Joel Messerole) of Sutherland, Iowa, Jennifer Mathews of Kansas City, Kansas, and Mary (James) Grandick of Council Bluffs, Iowa; grandchildren Michael (Regan) Greene of Ankeny, Iowa and Morgan Greene of Cherokee, Iowa, Nathan Mathews of Omaha, Nebraska; great-grandchildren Sonny Sutton Greene and Frankie Lu Greene-Booher; siblings Harry (Anita) Mansfield of Pierson, Iowa, Richard (Linda) Mansfield of LeMars, Iowa, Audrey Niefer of Phillip, South Dakota, Betty (Darwin) Schmidt of Fairmont, Minnesota; EdwardÕs extended family of grandchildren Josh (Rachel) Welsh, Jacqui (Mario) Welsh, and JaNae Gregg; great-grandchildren Reese, Mckenna, Kinsley, Brice, and Eli; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
