Linda Betsinger McCann will be speaking about several of her books in this area during the week of September 13. Linda writes nonfiction Iowa history and has had 14 books published by Tandem Publishing Group of Des Moines. She will be speaking about her books on the Prisoners of War in Iowa and her Prohibition book. Linda began writing when she was telling her granddaughters about items in Iowa’s history and they knew nothing about it.
She will be at the Sanborn Library at 4 pm on September 13, and the Boyden Library at 6:30 pm the same day speaking on her POW book. On Sept. 14, she will be at the Hospers Library at 10 am; the Paullina Library at 2 pm, and the Remsen Library at 6:30 speaking about Prohibition in Iowa. Linda will be at the Marcus Library on Sept. 16 at 6 pm speaking on Beginning Genealogy.
Everyone is invited to attend and there is no admission charge. Linda will have copies of all her books with her, available for purchase.
Linda McCann will also be at the Primghar Library on September 15 at 6 pm speaking on Beginning Genealogy. Linda gives genealogy the credit for her writing. She began researching her family tree about 40 years ago, and was completely surprised at some of her findings. She discovered she was descended from the founder of the town where she lived. This led her to becoming involved in starting a historical society, and she has served as president since its founding. This led to her researching the area, and the rest is history.
In this session, Linda shares some of the web sites she trusts, items she has learned, and has handouts so attendees can begin her own research.
