Main Market Pending Ownership Change
by Mari Radtke
Sharon Litka purchased Main Market in 1997 from Larry and Vivian Hersom. The long-time downtown grocery store, under the Hersoms, also housed a laundromat. Once Sharon had possession she repurposed the former laundromat space. Coolers were installed and dairy products and fresh produce filled the east and south walls at the back of the store. She also added a bottled water dispenser to the space, next to the butcher area and meat counter.
Sharon came to the purchase without grocery experience, but she did have retail experience in the hardware business. She came from the chain once known as “Coast-to-Coast.” She trained in grocery for a short while at the Hartley grocery store.
In 2005, after L&E Variety closed its doors, she added a 25×100’ building to the west. She brought in the variety lines featuring gift ware, party supplies, home décor, toys, personal care, and much more.
A sale is pending. It is expected to close on February 2, 2026. Sharon expects to keep the doors open until Saturday January 31. Between now and then Sharon invites you to come take advantage of her ongoing inventory reduction sale. For variety items, regularly marked items are 40% off beginning Sunday January 11. A large selection of greeting cards is 30% off. All seasonal merchandise is 50% off, including new Valentines, St. Patrick and Easter items. You will also find a large selection of Christmas décor and fall/Halloween, patriotic, and party supplies. Her milinary line still has a good selection of materials, quiting patterns, buttons, thread and all the extras you might need.
The store hours are as always, 8:00am to 6:00pm with Sundays January 18 added. The store is open Noon to 4:00pm. Items are moving quickly. Come soon for best selection.
