The Wolverines and the Mustangs battled on the hardwood at George on Tuesday December 2. The Mustangs took a first half lead, 25-15. The Wolverines battled back throughout the second half, closing the 10-point deficit. The effort was just shy at the final buzzer. Second half scoring was Wolveirnes 23 and Mustangs 16. The final score was 41-38 to the host Mustangs.
Wolvierne senior Lindsey Einck led the team’s scoring with 14 oints. Sophomore Cassidy Horstmann followed with 7 points, hitting 2 of 4 3-point attempts. Senior Addison Hedberg scored 6. Hedberg claimed 4 of 5 free throws for points.
G-LR’s senior Lindsey Haken topped the Mustang leader-board with 20 points. Nevaeh Feucht, senior put in 9 points and sophomore Grace Ubbinga scored 7.
Einck did a great job on the boards, grabbing 11 rebounds including 2 second chances. Hedberg showed grit. She grabbed 4 board with one being offensive. She was driven taking 5 steals. BreLee Rasmussen also grabbed 4 boards including one offensive and 3 blocked shots.
The Mustangs’ Haken was a power house under the basket. She grabbed 9 rebounds, 4 of them second chance grabs, and 6 steals.
