Cherokee Regional Medical Center to Acquire MercyOne Primghar Family Medicine Clinic
Cherokee Regional Medical Center is excited to announce that effective Saturday, December 27, 2025, they will acquire MercyOne Primghar Family Medicine located at 240 N. Rerick Ave. in Primghar, Iowa.
Officials from Cherokee Regional plan to meet with the current MercyOne Primghar clinic staff on Monday, November 24th to provide information about the positions they will be hiring for the clinic, as well as any other openings within the organization. The goal is to have all necessary staff hired in the next few weeks.
“Moving into Primghar provides us a great opportunity to expand our family medicine footprint within our service area,” says Gary Jordan, President/CEO of Cherokee Regional Medical Center. “When the opportunity arose to acquire the clinic, we jumped on it. We are happy that we are able to bring our mission of providing seamless, quality healthcare to the Primghar community.”
The Primghar Medical Clinic, a hospital department of Cherokee Regional, plans to open the week of December 29, 2025. It will join the Cherokee Medical Clinic, Holstein Medical Clinic, Aurelia Medical Clinic, Marcus Medical Clinic and Sutherland Medical Clinic. At that time, former MercyOne clinic patients will be invited to transfer their care to Cherokee Regional’s new Primghar Medical Clinic.
Cherokee Regional plans to host a town hall event in December for community members wanting more information about the clinic transition process and how to access health care services. More information about this event will be published at a later date, with the public encouraged to attend.
