Obituary – Keith Harry Laue

belltimescourier.com Posted on August 6, 2025 by StaffAugust 6, 2025
Keith Laue

Keith Harry Laue, the son of Harry C. and Muriel (Welch) Laue, was born March 9, 1930, in Dale Township near Primghar, Iowa. He spent his youth in the Sutherland and Paullina, Iowa areas and received his education through the rural school near Sutherland, graduating from Paullina High School with the class of 1947.
On June 17, 1949, Keith was united in marriage to Viola Oldenkamp at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Three daughters made their family complete: Patricia, Diane and Kristi. They began their life together near West Bend, Iowa, eventually stewarding Iowa land near Paullina, as well as north of Sutherland. Keith’s farming career spanned almost 40 years, from the 1950s through the 80s. The marriage would later dissolve, and in 1995 he moved into the town of Primghar where he had resided ever since.
Just because he wasn’t sitting in a tractor or checking corn and bean fields every summer, didn’t mean Keith had lost his interest in growing things. He just traded crops. Vegetable gardening and flowers became his new focus, and after completing the required courses, he earned the status of Master Gardner. Now armed with more knowledge and experience, he had fun trying different growing methods and plant varieties. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing his garden produce and beautiful Gladiolas with neighbors and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed a good book or a game of cards. He also had an eye for picking up Norman Rockwell collectibles. Flying had been another interest of his, having had his pilot’s license. Keith loved to kick up his heels to good, old Polka music; his hobbies were widespread and diverse, to say the least.
On Thursday, July 31, 2025, Keith passed from this life at his home in Primghar at the age of 95 years. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Diane Hodson of Le Mars, Iowa, and Kristi (Mark) Koch of La Crosse, Wisconsin; three grandchildren: Rob Hodson, Abigail Koch and Luke Koch; his sister, Marilyn Lundquist of Paullina, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Muriel Laue; his brother, Norman Laue; and his daughter, Patricia Jean Laue.
Visitation was Monday, August 4, 2025 at Sanborn Funeral Home Sanborn, Iowa from 3:00 p.m.  ~  7:00 p.m.
Sanborn and Hartley Funeral Homes were in charge of the arrangements. Kent Billings, Director
