Hinton gets out front early to defeat Wolverines

Hinton built a nine-run lead over South O’Brien after three innings and then ended the game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 12-2 War Eagle Conference victory June 16 at Hinton. The Blackhawks scored two runs in the first inning, four in the second and then three more in the third.
The Wolverines got both of their runs in the fifth inning. Eliot Boardman and Ryan Fuller hit back-to-back singles and then executed a double steal. Corbin Warnke followed with a two-bagger to drive in both runners. Those were the only three hits for the visitors.
Warnke got the start and tossed three innings, giving up the nine runs on eight hits. Seven of the runs were earned. He walked four batters, struck out three and hit one. Will Stout pitched the final inning and a third. He allowed three earned runs on two hits. Stout also walked a pair of batters. South O’Brien committed two errors in the game.
