George-Little Rock takes low scoring game over Wolverines
George-Little Rock scored two first-inning runs against South O’Brien and made them hold up. Kyle Deleeuw pitched a complete game shutout as the Mustangs won 2-0 June 4 at George.
The Wolverines managed just three hits in the game, a triple by Gabe Moermond and singles from Brady Riedemann and Brody Van Beek. Drawing walks were Damian Villarreal, Alex Griebel and Brennan Billick. South O’Brien was 4-for-4 in steal attempts. Villarreal, Griebel, Billick and Van Beek each swiped a base.
Ryan Fuller pitched six innings in what turned out to be a pitchers’ duel. He kept the Wolverines in the game by striking out 11 and allowing only four hits. Fuller walked two batters and hit one. Both of the runs were earned. The defense helped out by committing only one error.
