South O’Brien is fourth at Boys Golf Sectional as two Wolverines advance

The South O’Brien Boys Golf Team had two players advance from the Class 1A Sectional Meet held May 14 at Rolling Hills Country Club north of Hull. Senior Jace Kleinwolterink and junior Alex Griebel made the cut to move on. The duo were scheduled to have competed in the District Meet at Willow Creek in Le Mars on May 19.
As a team, the Wolverines missed the cut, scoring 372 points to finish 4th behind Boyden-Hull, Harris-Lake Park, and GTRA. Only the top three teams go on to District play. Kleinwolterink and Griebel qualified for Districts as the top two overall individual players from among the non-qualifying teams.
“Although we are disappointed the team is done for the season, it’s awesome to have two individuals qualify for Districts,” said Wolverine coach Kris Faust. “Jace and Alex will have some tough competition. However, they are serious golfers who are willing to battle. They have some experience playing Willow Creek, which will give them an advantage on Monday.”
