Zub’s Shop Opens Highway Gas Station

By Mari Radtke
Zub’s Shop, a more than 20-year landmark business in downtown Sutherland is on the move again. Kevin and Joyce Zubrod started at the northeast corner of Main and W 2nd Streets it didn’t take too long for the business to grow out of their original location and took on the empty former Coop gas station location. The additional repair bays and gas pumps made the relocation a natural move.
On-farm tire repair service has always been a core of the Zub’s Shop customer care. Fuel delivery began in 2015 when the acquisition of the Larrabee “cardtol” station and the fuel delivery service was purchased from Rick Westphal.
Qualified staff has been added and includes one of their kids, Jon joining the family business. The growth continues. A new, modern car wash, “Bubbles Car Wash” opened right on Highway 10 in 2019. Now a new self-service gas station is open at the corner of Highway 10 at Van Buren, just as you enter Sutherland from the west.
The new fuel station is fully self-serve. Credit, debit and house cards are all accepted. Access into the station from the west is easy for large trucks. The concrete lot provides space for easy maneuverability and easy out west bound onto Highway 10. The gas pumps feature a lighted canopy. An accessory building offers 24-7 restrooms, as long as they are not abused.
The habit of business growth backed by years of high quality customer service is well in-grained in the Zub’s Shop tradition. And it continues.
