The South O’Brien boys put their stamp on nine events on the way to the team championship at the Wolverine Relays conducted May 8 at Paullina. The host Wolverines won the points race with Sioux Central, scoring 179 compared to 169 for the Rebels.
Double individual winners on the night were Brett Evans in the high jump and 400 meter hurdles and Brennan Billick in the long jump and 110 hurdles. Trayton Cobb captured the 400 meter dash.
A quartet of relays also made it to the figurative winners circle. They were the 4×100 of Damian Villarreal, Caden Wittrock, Brody Van Beek and Derek Paulsen, the 4×200 with Evans, Wittrock, Van Beek and Paulsen, the sprint medley of Villarreal, Wittrock, Van Beek and Paulsen and the shuttle hurdle with Billick, Paulsen, Evans and Van Beek.
Runner-up finishes were earned by Jordan Jenness in the shot put, Landen Davenport in the 3200 meters and the 4×800 relay of Corbin Warnke, Noah Wittrock, Karson Wetrich and Ethan Schwarz.
