South O’Brien girls drop home finale to Rebels
It may have been the final home game of the season for South O’Brien, but visiting Sioux Central put their stamp on it. The Rebels were in control after a 17-3 first quarter and went on to beat their hosts 61-32 February 11 at Paullina.
The Wolverines shot 29 percent with 12 hoops in 41 attempts. They were 3-of-18 from three-point range and 5-of-9 at the free throw line. Sioux Central attempted 15 free throws and made 12. The visitors from the Twin Lakes Conference were 21-of-57 from the floor for 37 percent. That included going 7-for-18 from downtown.
Abby Nelson and Abby Woodall each scored eight points for the home team. Cassidy Horstmann added six points, Reese Farquhar four and Chloe Hustedt and BreLee Rasmussen three each. Nelson and Farquhar each recorded a pair of assists. Avery Wilson led Sioux Central with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
The rebounding leaders for the Wolverines were Lindsey Einck and Farquhar, each with four, and Hustedt and Rasmussen with three apiece. Farquhar blocked two shots and Woodall one. Making three steals each were Nelson and Farquhar. The Rebels were guilty of 15 turnovers while South O’Brien turned the ball over 22 times.
