The South O’Brien Marching Band performed at the IHSMA festival in Sheldon and the Dutchmen Field Championships in Orange City on Saturday, October 12. The band received a Division I rating at Sheldon. They followed up with 2nd place in Class 1A at the Dutchmen Field Championships in Orange City. The South O’Brien Marching band 2024 show is title “The Fab Four” music included “Get Back”, “Let It Be””/Hey Jude” and “Twist and Shout,” by George Harrison, John Lennon or Paul McCartney. All arranged by Michael Brown. Drum Major was Ashlynn Gunnerson. The band it under the Direction of Becky Meyer. The Color Guard is under the direction of Michelle Aberson and Priscilla Jenness. Drill was written by Ruben Newell.
Mrs. Meyer had this to say about the performances on Saturday “Mrs. Aberson, Mrs. Jenness and Mrs. Meyer are very proud of how well the students performed on Saturday at both competitions and are happy with the continued growth of both the band and color guard throughout the season. We also want to thank all the parents, school administration, community and the South O’Brien Music Boosters for all the support.”
