South O’Brien had the distinction of participating in the State Track and Field Meet on the boys side. The Wolverine shuttle hurdle relay was one of the events which qualified in Class 1A.

Thursday afternoon sophomores Grant Wagner and Boston Riedemann, junior Pete Bottjen and senior Micah Davis stepped out onto the famous blue oval which is Jim Duncan Track at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. They were in the first heat of the 1A shuttle hurdle relay preliminaries, the first event of the afternoon session. They ran fourth in their heat with a time of 1:08.24. That bettered their qualifying meet time of 1:08.86 but they did not qualify for the finals. The quartet placed 20th overall.
