Obituary – Russell J. Muur

belltimescourier.com Posted on August 7, 2024 by richard radtkeAugust 7, 2024
Russell J. Muur Sanborn, Iowa

Services for Russell J. Muur, age 89, of Sanborn who passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, at his residence.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at First Reformed Church in Fulton, Illinois, followed by a graveside at Fulton Cemetery.
An additional celebration of life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on August 10, 2024, at the First Reformed Church in Sanborn, Iowa.
Russell Muur 89, son of Bill and Edna (Bielema) Muur was born on July 19, 1934. His earlier years were spent on the family farm in Fulton IL. At the age of 16, Russ started his first job driving truck and remained a very hard working man his entire life.
On July 24, 1953, he married the love of his life Marilyn Diephuis. They were blessed to share their 70th anniversary together last year before mom’s passing in September. This union was blessed with two children: Kevin and Kathy. Many years of their lives were spent farming and trucking in Thomson IL. Though times were tough in those years, Russ and Marilyn held firm to their anchor-Jesus Christ. As Russ said many times, “We may be “poor” in material possessions, but we are so blessed and “rich” in faith, hope and love. He was a very devoted husband and father, both jobs he carried out with gentleness, love and commitment. But more importantly, he was dedicated to his Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ. This was evident in the way he lived his life each and every day and leaves a legacy of faith to all those that knew him. His humble motto of life was “I am only a sinner, saved by grace.”
This world was not his home, he was just passing through and now he is re-united with Marilyn and walking daily with Jesus. He is lovingly remembered by his son Kevin Muur of Sanborn IA; his daughter Kathy (Joel) Wright of Sanborn IA; grandson Ethan Wright of Morristown, SD and granddaughter Jen Hoover of Dubuque, IA; sisters-in-law Ruth (Gene) Muur; Linda (Gary) Houzenga, Judy (Ron) Houzenga, his nieces, nephews and many friends.
Russell passed away from this life into Glory at his home surrounded by his family and entered the city “where the roses never fade.”
