The summer livestock judging season is in full swing for the South O’Brien FFA.

Three teams competed at the Monona County Fair and started off the summer with some outstanding results. Members evaluated classes of Market Beef, Swine and Sheep, along with Breeding Swine and Sheep.
The team of Drew Wittrock, Noah Wittrock, Will Stout and Gabe Moermond took home the Champion Team trophy this year.
Hunter Lange, Jasper Johnson, Sarah Puhrmann, and Kate Dau placed 3rd as a team, while John Puhrmann, Bensen Rohwer, Bode Bailey, and Ethan Schwarz placed 4th.
Individually, Kate was Reserve Champion, Drew-3rd, Will-4th, Gabe-5th, Ethan-8th, and Jasper-9th.
In the adult division, it was a back-and-forth contest between South O’Brien FFA Advisor Eric Kumm and Sioux Center FFA Advisor, and South O’Brien FFA Alum, Eric Koehlmoos. It ended with Kumm scoring 288 to Koehlmoos’ 286 for the 2024 bragging rights. They’ll most likely meet up again at the Woodbury County Fair.
