A. Call to Order
President Gina Paulsen called the meeting to order at 6:30 AM.
B. Roll Call and Declaration of Quorum
All members were present.  Quorum established.
Director Richard Radtke left the meeting prior to agenda item I.6. and Director John Beck left the meeting prior to item I.8.
C. Adoption of Agenda
Motion to adopt the amended agena adding item I.10.

  3. Financial Reports
    a. Financial Statements
    Board Secretary/SBO Aaron Giese provided the board with commentary on the school financials including receipts and expenditures, fund balances, and upcoming items to look for.

    b. Consider Payment of Invoices
    Board Secretary/SBO Aaron Giese highlighted some invoices and expenditures for the month and answered questions posed by board members.

    F. Reports
  4. District Discipline Report
    Elementary Principal Jean Steen presented information to the board regarding office referrals at the elementary building.  Mrs. Steen also delivered an end-of-year update regarding 21st century skills, positive climate and culture, high performance and growth, and facilities.
  5. Principals’ End-of-Year Reports
    Secondary Principal Denise Phillips provided an end-of-year update to the board from the secondary including 21st-century skills, positive climate and culture, high performance and growth, facilities, classroom visits, instructional coach time spent in the secondary.  Mrs. Phillips also reviewed academic achievement, student involvement, and discipline.  Mrs. Steen provided her report in the previous agenda item.
  6. Lau Plan
    Superintendent Wade Riley provided an update to the Board regarding the 2024-25 Lau Plan, which deals with the serving of English Learners (EL) in the District.
  7. Reports by Administration
    a. Directors
    Superintendent Wade Riley presented information to the board from the directors of the district including buildings, transportation, maintenance, nutrition, technology, and activities.
    b. Elementary
    Elementary Principal Jean Steen discussed her report with the Board in a previous agenda item.
    c. Secondary
    Secondary Principal Denise Phillips briefly discussed with the Board an updated attendance policy at the secondary.  Further guidance from the State of Iowa is needed before the plan is finalized, but Mrs. Phillips answered questions posed by board members.
    d. Superintendent
    Superintendent Wade Riley updated the Board on a number of items including ongoing construction and issues affecting the building projects at both the Paullina and Primghar sites.  Mr. Riley also discussed with the Board summer projects, the Summer Food Service Program, and upcoming dates to look for.

  9. Consider Approval of District Insurance
    Kent Faust of South O’Brien Insurance briefly presented to the Board regarding the District’s insurance policy renewal from Employers Mutual Casualty Company (EMC).  Mr. Faust also answered questions posed by board members.

  10. Consider Approval of Bids for Bakery Products and Dairy Products
    Motion to approve the bakery bid from Casey’s Bakery in Sioux Center, Iowa, and the dairy bid from Prairie Farms Dairy in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

  12. Consider Approval of 2024-2025 Registration Fees
    Motion to approve the following 2024-25 school year registration fees:

Breakfast: Student and adult – $1.50
Lunch: Grades EC-12 – $2.75, Adult – $4.85
Milk: Student and adult – $0.35
Book Fees: EC – $20, Grades TK-6 – $35, Grades 7-12 – $45
Activity Ticket (Optional): Student – $45, Adult Punch – $45/10, $85/20, Senior Citizen Punch – $35/10
Class Dues (Optional): Grades 9-12 – $10/year
Instrument Rental: $70/year – percussionists and students with school-owned instrument as primary instrument, $40/year – students with school-owned instrument as secondary instrument
