Big second inning powers Raptors past South O’Brien
Ridge View broke open a close game with eight runs in the second inning and went on to defeat South O’Brien 15-5 in five innings June 4 at Holstein. The Wolverines had taken a 5-4 advantage, scoring all five runs in the top of the second, before Ridge View went on its rampage. The Raptors then added a run in the fourth and ended the game with two in the fifth.
Leadoff batter Damian Villarreal doubled, singled, walked and drove in two runs. Mitchell Enger had a hit and an RBI. Ben Woodall and Brady Riedemann recorded a hit apiece. Willie Conley and Jaden Kreber each had an RBI and a run scored. Brett Evans and Ryan Fuller each walked and scored. Corbin Warnke also scored a run.
Fuller gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits with two walks and two hit batters. Gabe Moermond yielded four runs (three earned) on four hits with one strikeout, one walk and one hit batter. Brody Van Beek allowed seven runs (three earned) on just one hit but he walked four batters and hit one. The Wolverines were guilty of four errors.
