Education is the Heart Beat of the Paullina PEO Giving Dictionaries to all 3rd Graders

Education is the heart beat of PEO. In Paullina, Chapter FX P.E.O. demonstrates their commitment to learning in several ways. One is by awarding a scholarship or two each year to deserving individuals looking to master workplace skills. Another is the annual gift to each 3rd grade student in the South O’Brien Community School District. Most years there are two sections of third grade students in South O’Brien and another attending at Zion-St. John.
Mrs. Pat Menke and Mrs. Vickie Frisbee have taken a little classroom time each year to personally give each student their dictionary and show them how to use them. But they are so much more than dictionaries. The resource books have information about United States Presidents, planets of our solar system, the longest word in the world, sign language and so much more.
The gift can be a life time treasure. And it is for so many. The resource is kept throughout many students’ school career. Some continue to use it after graduation. And the members of P.E.O. FX love giving them.
