Hundreds of bicycle teams cruised through Primghar Sunday morning and afternoon. Many of them stopped for food, shopping, drinks, bicycle repairs or even free e-bike charging offered by the brand new Primghar Hardware. Or just to rest. One such team is “Damn It Dale.” Dale is a member of the six-person team. For years, they joke, or reveal, when something happens, it’s Dale’s doing. So “damn it Dale,” is what can be heard.
The group from near Glendale, participate in weekend RAGBRAI, never the entire route. They have for years. Finally, they gave in to the team moniker and had jerseys made.
It’s more than just a reactionary phrase. It’s also that the group very much enjoys the movie from which the phrase became famous, “Step Brothers” starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.
