FFA State Ag Mechanics Contest

162 individuals from 44 FFA chapters participated in this year’s State Career Development Event designed to provide the student an opportunity to display their agricultural knowledge and skills in the area of Agricultural Mechanics & Technology.
Activities included demonstration of skills, problem solving, and knowledge application in agricultural machinery equipment, metals and welding, structures, environmental and natural resources, and electrical systems.
The South O’Brien team placed 27th overall and earned a Silver rating, while also placing 9th in the Electrical portion of the contest.
South O’Brien FFA Advisor, Eric Kumm, noted that “This is a fairly fast paced contest, so contestants have to work to get things done. We were able to practice the electrical component the most, which showed by how well they placed in that part of the contest. They did a really nice job in representing South O’Brien.”
