Wolverines score a team win over George-Little Rock

by Scott Chrisman
South O’Brien put a decisive end to a four-game losing streak with a 9-1 victory over George-Little Rock June 20 at Paullina. With the five-inning win the Wolverines improved to 2-5 in the War Eagle Conference and 6-10 overall.
“We came to the field tonight with a winning mindset and it showed,” remarked Wolverine head coach Heather Struve. “We had seven hits in just four innings. We also had four stolen bases, which helps a ton when trying to score runs. Alli Griebel had a couple doubles and four big RBI’s and BreLee Rasmussen had a pair of singles and two RBI’s to lead our offense. They are two girls who swing hard. This was a fun team win, with everyone doing their job. One error on offense was all we had. Griebel pitched all five innings and had a great night. All of her pitches were working as she struck out five and walked just one. This game showed our team what we can do when we put all phases of the game together.”
