Walks contribute to Rebels’ win Over Wolverines

South O’Brien allowed 11 hits to Sioux Central but issued even more walks. The 12 bases-on-balls were part of a 14-4 win for the Rebels June 19 at Peterson. Sioux Central ended the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Starting pitcher Ryan Fuller went 1-1/3 innings and gave up eight runs (seven earned) on three hits with four walks and four hit batters. Damian Villarreal climbed the bump to pitch the next inning and two-thirds. His stint included five earned runs on four hits with five walks. Tossing the final 1-1/3 innings was Austin Negus. He yielded an earned run on four hits with three walks. Each of the pitchers recorded one strikeout. The Wolverines were guilty of two errors.
The visitors scored three times in the fourth inning. Negus singled and Eliot Boardman reached on an error. Brennan Billick’s single scored both runners. After Will Stout walked, Billick stole third and came home on Villarreal’s base hit.
South O’Brien added one more run in the fifth. Brady Riedemann walked and took second on a wild pitch. He went to third on a ground ball and then scored on Boardman’s RBI groundout.
Villarreal and Negus each had two hits and Billick one.
