Some members of Sutherland Ruritan took a day to show gratitude to customers and supporters of Sutherland businesses and volunteer efforts. The Ruritans have held a summer ice cream social and fundraiser. They also host an annual Belgian Waffle Dinner and an annual pancake dinner. Funds are used for 5th grade trees and other quality projects.
Commercial Club members set up a serving line for their guests. A nice crowd was out for dinner and treats, homemade ice cream and homemade treats. Kids enjoyed the park. The weather was on the warm side June 19, but it was really quite nice.
In recent years they have joined forces with the Sutherland Commercial Club. The hot dog meal is their way of saying “Thanks.” The Sutherland Commercial Club sponsors events throughout the year. Highlight events are Hometown Christmas and the Easter Bunny.
