Three games last week end early for Wolverines

South O’Brien played in a trio of games last week that saw their opponents score big victories. The Wolverines lost 16-1 to Ridge View June 10 at Paullina. The next night South O’Brien traveled to Le Mars where they fell 15-0 to Gehlen Catholic. The Wolverines closed out the week June 13 with an 11-1 home loss to Akron-Westfield. No South O’Brien stats were available for the games.
The latter two losses were War Eagle Conference games where South O’Brien stands at 0-5. The Wolverines are 1-10 overall.
Ridge View jumped out to a 15-0 lead after 2-1/2 innings of play. South O’Brien got its run in the bottom of the third. After Will Stout doubled he came home to score when Damian Villarreal was in a rundown between first and second. The Raptors stats showed them with five hits and seven walks in the five innings while allowing South O’Brien one hit.

Koby Paulson pitched a three-hitter over four innings as the Jays blanked South O’Brien. Gehlen’s stats showed them with 11 hits and seven walks The Jays scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to end the game.

Akron-Westfield led 7-1 after three innings. The Westerners scored four runs in the fifth to force the Wolverines to score in the bottom of the inning to prolong the game and they were unable to do so. Akron-Westfield totaled nine hits and eight walks according to the team’s stats. Pitcher Matthew Swancutt allowed the Wolverines four hits.
