South O’Brien rally comes up short against Falcons
West Sioux scored all the runs it would need in the second inning, hanging a five-spot on the scoreboard against South O’Brien. The Wolverines cut into the lead in the latter innings but West Sioux held on for a 6-3 War Eagle Conference win June 9 at Paullina.
Brady Riedemann went 2-for-4 at the dish. Ryan Fuller was 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Gabe Moermond singled and drove in a pair of runs. Eliot Boardman and Austin Negus each had one hit. Both Damian Villarreal and Alex Griebel walked and scored.
Fuller pitched 2-1/3 innings, allowing five earned runs on three hits. He struck out four batters, walked four and hit one. Griebel went 3-1/3, yielding an earned run on three hits and three walks. He also recorded four strikeouts and a hit batter. The other 1-1/3 inning went to Villarreal who gave up a hit and struck out a batter. There was just one South O’Brien error.
