Ridge View finishes strong to pound Wolverines

It was a good beginning for South O’Brien but a bad middle and end. Ridge View overcame an early deficit to score six runs in the third inning and 13 more in the fifth to down the Wolverines 19-5 in five innings June 10 at Paullina.
“We started out the game hot with three runs in the first and two runs in the second to go up 5-0 through two innings of play,” noted Wolverine head coach Heather Struve. “Tawni Wulf threw the first four innings of play. She had a rough time in the third inning, but threw well the other three innings. Tawni started the fifth, but we committed an error and she was getting tired and not finding the strike zone. She gave up 10 runs on five walks and eight hits. Abby Woodall replaced her, but only lasted three batters and then BreLee Rasmussen came in to finish up the game. Things really got away from us in the fifth, as we gave up 13 runs. Ridge View is a good hitting team, but our three errors in the field and walks did not help us out at all. Plus, we only had three team hits. Those were all singles from Reese Farquhar, Abby Woodall and BreLee Rasmussen.”
