The South O’Brien track and field girls got one last chance to hone their talents before the State Qualifying Meet by competing in the Sioux Central Invitational held May 12 at Sioux Rapids. The Wolverines were third behind the host Rebels and Newell-Fonda, scoring 99 points.
Taylor Wulf was the winner of the discus competition. Camryn Strubbe finished second in the long jump and both the 200 and 400 meter dashes and was third in the 100. Other third-place finishes were earned by Tori Schueller in both the high jump and the 100 meter hurdles and by three relays: the 4×400 of Reese Farquhar, Avery Halverson, Chloe Hustedt and Grace Keen, the 4×800 with Farquhar, Wulf, Halverson and Keen and the shuttle hurdle of Abby Nelson, Maeci Stevens, Hustedt and Schueller.
