Results from Tourney give Wolverine girls one final WEC dual win
The South O’Brien golf girls finished their dual meet season at Willow Creek in Le Mars on May 13. It was a makeup match that was postponed earlier in the season due to weather. Scores from the black course were used from the War Eagle Conference Tournament. The Wolverines shot a 200 and won the match since HMS had only one golfer.
Earning top honors was Gracie Knobloch from HMS with a 43. Junior Lindsey Einck and freshman Cassidy Horstmann tied for runner-up honors with 47s. After a handicap hole card playoff, Lindsey took 2nd and Cassidy took 3rd. The 4th place medal went to freshman Anna Griebel, who shot a 52. The Wolverines were 7-2 in WEC duals this season. “The girls had a remarkable regular season,” commented South O’Brien coach Kris Faust. “They have learned so much and gained valuable experience. It is amazing that just a couple of months ago, some of them had never played a full round of golf. I am excited to see how they manage the competition in post-season play.”
