Mayor Kay Gifford called the Public Hearing for the 2025-2026 Budget to order. Roll call showed Councilmembers present were: Patrick Nelson, Johanna Homan, Nancy Kuehl, Bruce Engelke, and Tyler Draper. Others present were Rich Van Beek and Amanda Vanderhoff. There were no questions or comments. A motion was made by Nelson seconded by Homan to adjourn from the public hearing. Roll call: Homan, Kuehl, Engelke, Draper and Nelson. Motion carried.
Mayor Kay Gifford called the council meeting to order. Roll call showed Councilmembers present were Patrick Nelson, Johanna Homan, Nancy Kuehl, Bruce Engelke, and Tyler Draper. Others present were Colleen Johnson, Rich Van Beek and Amanda Vanderhoff.
A motion was made by Draper seconded by Engelke to approve the agenda. All in favor. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Nelson seconded by Engelke to approve Resolution 2025-13: Adopting the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Budget. Roll call: Ayes – Engelke, Nelson, Draper, Kuehl, and Homan. Motion carried.
Resolution 2025-14: Approving the Donation of a Property at 133 W 2nd Street from Jim and Colleen Johnson to the Sutherland Economic Development was tabled for the May 5, 2025 meeting.
Guest: Colleen Johnson was present to provide information and answer questions from council on the 133 W 2nd Street property the Johnson’s are wanting to donate to the city. Any income the property generates would go to Sutherland Economic Development. She told council that the renters of the property are responsible for all maintenance costs and utilities. The insurance and property tax payments are the responsibility of the owner of the property. Economic Development will discuss this proposal their April 30th meeting.
A motion to adjourn was made by Nelson seconded by Engelke. All were in favor. Motion carried.
