South O’Brien was one of 11 girls track and field teams to compete in the first ever Storm Lake St. Mary’s Invitational. Buena Vista University was the site for the inaugural event held April 11.
The Wolverines finished seventh with 65 team points. Sioux Central was the team champion with a 133 total.
The shuttle hurdle unit of Abby Nelson, Maeci Stevens, Chloe Hustedt and Tori Schueller placed second. The foursome of Reese Farquhar, Taylor Wulf, Raegan Plagge and Ciara Roberts came in fourth in the 4×800 relay. Individually, Camryn Strubbe finished fourth in the 100 meter dash, fifth in the 200 and sixth in the long jump. In the discus, Taylor Wulf was fourth and Tawni Wulf fifth. Tori Schueller finished fourth in the 100 meter hurdles and sixth in the 400 meter hurdles. Chloe Hustedt placed fifth in the 400 hurdles.
