SMSU Ag Bowl

The South O’Brien FFA chapter competed at the Southwest Minnesota State Ag Bowl! The SMSU Ag Bowl had nearly 1,200 students competing in events, with teams from Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, and even Wisconsin participating in various competitions.
7th Grader Karlee Sturges competed in Companion Animal at SMSU for the first time. She said her favorite part of the experience was getting to compete with her friends.
The South O’Brien FFA chapter competed in the following events: Companion Animal (Vet Science) , Fish & Wildlife, Meats, Milk Quality & Products, Nursery/Landscape, and Extemporaneous Speaking in which Kate Dau received 4th overall.
The Meats team earned the honor of 3rd overall. Individual honors went to Brett Evens (5th), Austin Negus (10th), Gabe Moermond (13th), and Will Stout (15th). Junior Gabe Moermond, who competed in the Meats evant, said, “I did this event last year, and they have made a lot of changes in how they set up the contest.”
