Quick Archer Council Meeting

City Clerk Sandy Fritz announced receipt of a $500 donation from MidAmerican Energy to the City of Archer for a Christmas Lighting project. She also outlined all of the necessary public meetings coming up to finally get to an approved budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025.
It was announced that the Archer Coop would obtain a survey of the land they are interested in acquiring at the southeast part of town, adjacent to where they currently own land.
Brian Vollink was sworn in as the new Archer Fire Chief. He replaces long-time chief Don “Digger” DeBoer. Following the swearing in, a discussion of the needs for the fire department revealed the department wants to get a replacement truck in calendar year 2026. They are looking at a 3000 gpm pumper/tanker. A brand new truck carries a $400,000 price tag and a 12-18 month deliver.
The city is posting a lawn mower job at $10 per hour and a maximum of 8 hours up to 4 times per month. The city will buy the gas. Interested persons can inquire to archercityclerk@gmail.com.
