Leane Bodle, An Enigma

by Mari Radtke
Throughout the days of donations a single story was told, the story of Leane Bodle. Who was she? Leane Bodle was born Christmas Eve, 1946. She grew up in Sheldon where her parents were Roy and Minerva. Both of them were business operators in Sheldon. Minerva was the owner operator of “Bodles’s Ladies Ready to Wear Clothing” and Roy the hardware store.
Leann became a teacher in Sheldon and Manson. Records at Sheldon Community School District have no information about her tenure. Manson – Northwest Webster School District reveal very little of her time in the Manson School District. She taught 3rd and 4th grades in the 90’s. Leane Bodle passed away November 22, 2023 at her Rockwell City home. She left no children or spouse.
It happens that she consulted with Attorneys Klinker and Klinker where they decided her estate would be gifted to O’Brien County Community Foundation to be used to improve O’Brien County. Her gift was without any restrictions, trusting the O’Brien County Community Foundation advisory board to decide how to fulfill her wishes to support O’Brien County. The advisory board thoughtfully decided to permanently endow a portion of her generous gift and also to distribute a portion of the estate for immediate impact touching each community. This gift is with no restrictions of use. No report will need to be filed.
O’Brien County Community Foundation representatives are grateful to those who make the recipient organizations run noting “your organization enriches O’Brien County.”
