Hot-shooting Wolverine boys strike quickly in beating Sioux Central

As has often been the case in South O’Brien wins this year, the Wolverines established themselves early against Sioux Central. Hosting the Rebels February 11 at Paullina, South O’Brien raced out to a 25-9 lead after one quarter on the way to 76-31 win. The Wolverines closed out the regular season with a record of 15-6.
The Wolverines enjoyed a scorching hot 65 percent shooting night. They were good on 32 of their 49 shots. That included 50 percent marksmanship (8-of-16) from three-point range. The guests from the Twin Lakes Conference were 11-of-35 from the floor for 31 percent. They connected on four of 14 shots from beyond the arc. From the free throw line the Rebels were 5-of-6, compared to 4-of-8 for the home team.
A total of 11 players got in the scoring column for South O’Brien. Derek Paulsen scored 18 points, Caden Wittrock 15, Jaden Kreber 14, Gabe Moermond 11, Reese Lundquist and Kaden Tjossem four apiece, Brady Riedemann three, Brett Evans, Brody Van Beek and Austin Negus two each and Brennan Billick one. The eight assists from Paulsen were augmented by the four from Riedemann and the three from both Kreber and Lundquist.
The rebounding leaders were Kreber and Lundquist with five boards apiece. Riedemann corralled four caroms with Paulsen and Van Beek each collecting three. Paulsen perpetrated six thefts of the ball.
