Blackhawks blast South O’Brien
Hinton moved to 16-0 on the season after pounding South O’Brien 75-35 January 24 at Paullina. The Blackhawks, ranked fourth in Class 2A, scored 29 points in each of the first two quarters and led 58-20 at halftime. The Wolverines’ War Eagle Conference record dropped to 1-5.
South O’Brien shot 36 percent with 10 baskets in 28 attempts. Seven of those hoops came on the team’s 15 three-point tries. The Wolverines were 8-of-11 at the free throw line.
The South O’Brien scoring showed Reese Farquhar with 11 points, Chloe Hustedt with eight, Lindsey Einck with five, Addison Hedberg with four, Abby Woodall with three and BreLee Rasmussen and Cassidy Horstmann with two apiece. Einck and Hedberg each recorded two assists.
Einck’s three rebounds topped the two each Hedberg, Rasmussen and Horstmann. Farquhar and Hustedt each came away with a pair of steals and Rasmussen and Hustedt each blocked a shot. The Wolverines committed 30 turnovers.
