Lagoon Completion Getting Close
by Mari Radtke
The Primghar regular City Council meeting brought out discussion from staff about tree removal and facility improvement projects. Between this year’s rare snow removal duties, outside city maintenance work has focused on branch pickup and tree removal was the report for Utility Supervisor Jarrett Russell. Ash trees are coming down slowly. Many remain. Council had discussion with strategies and schedules to speed the project along with no clear procedures defined. Burning, chipping and hauling away were disposal methods considered.
City Clerk Jaynee Rushton explained that two grants are currently being worked on. The bathrooms at the shelter at City Park are still scheduled to begin as spring gets closer. Some upgrades within City Hall, painting and window treatments were discussed with priority given to painting. The affected budgets won’t be adversely affected by the planned projects.
Lagoon payment #14 in the amount of $308,683.18 is the last payment the city will make toward the project until the lagoon is operating reliably.
Mosquito Control price is unchaged from last year. Other regular city organizational business was approved: Thor Klinker was appointed City Attorney, O’Brien County’s Bell-Times-Courier was appointed as the official pubication, First National Bank of Primghar and Saving’s Bank were chosen as the city’s depositories. Council was notified that a public hearing will need to be set for the coming budget year’s levy.
Administrative Staff also reported problems with the “G-Works” cloud upgrade.
