Janice E. Abrahamson

Services for Janice E. Abrahamson, age 86, of rural Primghar who passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Accura Healthcare of Cherokee. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee with Rev. Philip Beisswenger, officiating.
Burial will be at Liberty Township Cemetery in Calumet.
Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Janice Eileen Abrahamson, the daughter of James S. and Alta E. (Birch) Wilcox, was born on March 12, 1938, on the family farm near Cleghorn, Iowa. On May 15, 1956, she graduated from Cleghorn Consolidated High School in Cleghorn, Iowa. Janice was united in marriage to F. Richard (Dick) Abrahamson on June 17, 1956, at the Presbyterian Church in Cleghorn, Iowa. After their marriage the couple began their farming operation. In Janice’s spare time she sold Tupperware and Princess House Crystal. She entered Accura Healthcare in Cherokee in 2023, where she passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, reaching the age of 86 years, 4 months and 15 days.
Janice was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, decorating wedding cakes, baking, cooking, canning, watching soap operas, playing cards and marbles with family and friends. Janice and Dick also wintered in Mesa Arizona for 23 years. Her favorite time was spent with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 68 years, Dick of Primghar, Iowa; children and their spouses, Rick and Julie Abrahamson of West Bend, Iowa, Jerry and Noreen Abrahamson of Omaha, Nebraska, and LuAnn and Kevin Puhrmann of Paullina, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Kayla (Zac Champoux) Puhrmann of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kyle (Lisa) Puhrmann of Paullina, Iowa, Melissa (Matt) Hefty of LuVerne, Iowa, Jessica (Elvin) Nuñez of Clear Lake, Iowa, Jared (Kelsey) Abrahamson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Elyse (Tyler Walters) Abrahamson of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jocelyn (Josh Kostal) Abrahamson of New York, New York; nine great grandchildren, Kade and Levi Puhrmann, Blaine, Cole and Derrick Hefty, Eliana and Emilio Nuñez and Trenton and Blaire Abrahamson; also many other relatives and friends.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Jim Wilcox.
