MercyOne Primghar Redesigning Care Model in Western Iowa
Primghar, Iowa; July 26, 2024 – To adapt to the changing health care needs of the communities we serve and to adjust to the significant changes in health care delivery, MercyOne has announced a redesign of care in Primghar. This change will create a more sustainable care system for the community.
By the end of September, MercyOne Paullina Family Medicine and MercyOne Sutherland Family Medicine will consolidate with Primghar Family Medicine, which will remain open. MercyOne Primghar Medical Center will close. We will focus our resources on clinic care to continue MercyOne’s Mission to provide high-quality patient care while adapting to the community’s needs. With today’s current economic and workforce challenges, healthcare organizations will continue to make changes to maintain access to care.
Patients will be notified to discuss their options for continuing care at a MercyOne location that is most convenient for them. Impacted colleagues will have the opportunity to transfer to other positions within MercyOne, and the human resources team will support them through this process.
“To continue our Mission of providing high-quality patient care, MercyOne will continuously evaluate how we can use resources to adapt and meet the current needs of our communities and our state,” said Bob Ritz, MercyOne President and CEO. “Providing patient and colleague care will always be our top priority. We will work diligently to increase access to care and improve health care across Iowa.”
